三、One possible version

With graduation approaching, I have a lot to share with you. It is the time in the senior school that colors my daily life. During the three years, I have built up a good relationship with my teachers and classmates. What impresses me most are teachers’ devotion to education cause and their effective teaching. My classmates’ positive attitudes towards life and commitments to study also affect me greatly. What’s more, I have learnt a lot of knowledge and skills both in class and from various school activities, which I think are quite beneficial to my future study and life.

How time flies! It is sad to be aware of the end of a happy three years. But it is exciting to realize we’re facing a new life and a good opportunity ahead. Let’s cherish the time that we spend in the school and work hard for a bright future!

听力材料:

Text 1

M: You’ve been coughing so much these days. You must go to see your doctor this morning or I’ll call him in.

W: Don’t worry. I’ve taken some medicine and I’ll be all right soon.

Text 2

W: How do you like your new job?

M: It’s tiring but well paid. They paid me 800 dollars last week, almost double what I earned last year.

Text 3

M: Why haven’t you left for school, Mary?

W: Our teachers have gone to have a conference in New York and there is no school today.

Text 4

M: Read the three books and tell me how you like them before next Monday.

W: But one of them will take me a month, Professor.

M: You’re no longer a middle school girl, Helen. A university student should learn to read much faster.

W: Got it.

Text 5

W: What did you think of the art exhibition?

M: We didn’t see it at all. When we got there, it had already been closed.

W: Where did you go then?

M: The bookstore. We bought a magazine for you and two cartoon books for Tommy.

Text 6

M: Hello, Alice. This is Frank.

W: Hello, Frank. I thought you had left for Sydney.

M: Not yet. My plane doesn’t leave until 4:30 this afternoon. I’m calling to ask if I can borrow your camera. I lent mine to Jack last week but he broke it.

W: Certainly. I bought it last May and it works very well.

M: Good. Shall I go for it now?

W: You needn’t. It happens to be in my car. I’m driving to my uncle’s now and I will pass by your house in about five minutes.

M: Then I’ll wait for you at the Baker’s.

Text 7

W: Look at that guy. He’s got such a moustache!

M: Ah, I know him. He’s Bill Franks, a young actor who became famous after playing Albert Einstein.

W: Does he live around here?

M: No. He’s a New Yorker. I wonder why he has come to London.

W: When did you get to know him? I never heard of you speaking of him.

M: Remember I have a friend called Tom Hanks? When I visited him last summer, he took me to a party. Most of the people there were film stars, and Bill Franks was one of them.

W: That’s interesting.

M: Let’s go and say hello to him.

Text 8

M: Susan, I was shocked to hear about your son’s accident. How is he now?

W: Mike’s conscious now. But the doctors say he’s got to stay there for a couple of weeks.

M: Have they found out who hit him?

W: Yes. It was the driver of a small red car. He has drunk so much that he hadn’t woken up when the police went to his house this morning. Now they have taken him to the station.

M: It serves him right. Well, I came specially to ask if I could be of any help.

W: Thank you, Bob. Please tell the manager I won’t be able to go to work until next Monday.

M: OK. Anything else?

W: Please return the calculator to John for me. It’s in my desk and here is the key.

Text 9

M:From your letter we know you have worked in a nursery before, so we think you’re well qualified for the job, Miss Yang. We would be interested in having you work for us.

W: Thank you, sir.

M: Are you interested in full-time or part-time employment?

W: Part-time, please.

M: But part-time employees don’t get any other benefits besides the pay, you know.

W: I know that. But I have to stay at home some time during the day to look after my mother.

M: Well, then you’ll have to work here from 7:00 to 12:00 in the morning or from 1:00 to 6:00 in the afternoon.

W: I prefer to work in the afternoon. I have to make meals for my mother and feed her.

M: OK, Miss Yang. You’re hired. And we’ll pay you 500 dollars a week. Sign your name here on this paper please.

W: When shall I begin my work here? Next Monday?

M: The sooner, the better. You can come here tomorrow if possible.

W: Then I’ll come the day after tomorrow.

Text 10

The first important thing to do on the first day in college is to try to walk around the campus

and find out where your classrooms are located. It will save you arriving 15 minutes late for your

classes, which may make some professors angry. All new students are at a loss, but you will feel

more confident if you know where to show up.

The second important thing is to learn about your professors’ lecture style. Your professors will hand out a teaching plan and start a lecture. Each professor’s lecture style is different. Don’t worry, though. In a few weeks, you’ll get used to his or her style and start to recognize the faces of your fellow students.

Most colleges have some type of “ Welcome Week” with tons of activities for new students. You don’t have to go to every activity, but if something sounds interesting, check it out. It’s a good way to meet new friends too.

Some students use laptops to take notes, but it can also be an incredible distraction because of the temptation to check your email. I’d recommend something differentcommon but usefula notebook and a pen. Use a notebook of different colors for each class. Write down anything that goes on the blackboard and anything that the professor repeats many times. A good professor will have a way of emphasizing words so you know they are important. Don’t worry about neatness. As long as you can read your own handwriting, you are OK.
